Patreon Rewards Update

To make the Patreon rewards more useful to folks, and easier for me to achieve on a monthly basis, I have updated them.

I have adjusted the price tiers to those that are most used, and given folks at each tier some fun things to experience.

One of the big changes is that I will be holding a monthly Q&A session on Facebook Live for everyone!  So if you haven’t liked the Facebook page do so now and you won’t miss a thing!

The first Facebook Live event will be June 14th at 6:00 cst.

The $3 and $10 tiers were dropped so that I can give you more bang for your buck on the other tiers.  I think it is going to make a big difference.

If you aren’t familiar with my Patreon page, head on over and check it out!  We would love to have you.

I hope you have a great day!

Adventure Time!

I have a poll up on my Patreon page.  If you want to influence the comic’s story, now is the time to have your voice be heard!

Let me know your thoughts!

Little Late this Week

Last week turned out to be a lot busier than I had anticipated.  Getting ready for the last game took up more of my time than it usually did, so I was unable to work on the comic at all.

I will be working on it this week and will have this page and next week’s page sorted before Friday.  So you will still get a comic this week, it just is going to be a little later than usual.

Sorry about that!

Pretty Things to Share!

I spent a few hours this afternoon working on the sim, there is a LOT still yet to do, and many tweaks before anything is final for the comic, but here is a sneak peak at what the world is slowly forming into.

Many thanks to my husband who provided much of what you see in this picture.  (He has LOTs of fun buildings and props in Second Life.  It’s where we met! <3)

Shortcuts and Script Edits

Getting that sim is going to be vital for this comic. I’m running into a lot of issues where my vision for the comic and the script that I have already created have to be edited and updated because I don’t have the set up for it.

For instance, I would LOVE to get a wide shot of Fairy right now with the jewel of the city Aedarwood shining like a beacon in the distance. It’s what I’ve scripted and I think it would be a beautiful panel.

But without the sim, I don’t HAVE a forest or a city to photograph. I have a variety of sims I am using to take the photographs I need. I would need to do some massive post processing work to cobble together something that would work.

So what do you do?

Get creative! Switch up angles and layout, adjust the script so that you can make it work. Push off that amazing shot for later in the comic and make it look FANTASTIC when you do it.

Oh, I am going to do it. It will be *stunning*

Until then, however, I get a chance to introduce you to the last of the crew that hasn’t been seen yet. That makes me just as excited! These people have been living in my head for AGES now. Time to let them live in yours too!

Let’s do this!

Since I’m starting this whole thing from the ground up, I figured I would take you all on the trip with me.

I’m looking at all sorts of different ways to promote my comic.  Word of mouth is the best way of course, but some of the other ways are pretty inventive too.

Most of the articles I’ve ready say you need at least 20 comics before you really start pushing advertising, this gets folks hooked into the plot and excited to read more.  I can see that, comic storytelling is a slower pace than simply writing it all out.  20 pages of a written novel moves much faster than 20 pages of graphics.

Luckily I have 28 pages out. (As of this article.)  I still want a few more before I really start getting the word out about the comic.  Some of the things I’m considering include Project Wonderful, The Webcomics List, Top Webcomics, and The Belfry WebComics Index.   I hear Reddit is a good place to get your comic noticed, but I don’t have an account, nor do I really want one.

There is a large group of folks from Second Life on Flickr but yahoo won’t let me log into my flickr account and their customer service is nearly non-existent.  I would LIKE to post on flickr, but not until their issues are fixed.

There is always blog trades, working with other bloggers to promote each other’s sites, and I love the idea of that.  It’s what I started to do with my “Speaking of Comics” posts.  I’ll have to do some networking to see if I can find some folks who would like to reciprocate the efforts.

We are about $100 short of the first goal, which would allow me to rent the homestead I need to set up permanent structures for the comic and I know there are several folks who are waiting till payday to pledge.  I am so excited and really look forward to getting everything set up to make this process easier to do!

We can totally do this!

Behind the Scenes Shuffle

So I have of 9 of 12 avatars that I need in order to have all the main characters on my own accounts.  They are looking fantastic!

The Fae King has had a glamour makeover. (As any good fae can attest, appearances can be deceiving and should  never be trusted!)  He is looking spooky enough for Halloween!  Be sure to join my Patreon to get a glimpse at his new look.  I’m just waiting on the Prophet, Talon, and Jasper and the whole crew will be ready for their photos.

Things are starting to roll along!

I’m also working on an introduction video for the Patreon page as well as a welcome video for Patrons who are so kindly supporting me!

I’ve got wallpapers in the works for folks who pledge $10 or more and I’m sketching out the ideas I have for the short comics for those who pledge $20 or more.  Though I’ll need your help to decide which comic to do first!  Keep an eye out for a poll a little later on in the week.

The crew is getting impatient and the sky is clear!  Seems like it’s about time for us to set sail!

Let’s speed this comic up!

So I’ve been running in to a bit of trouble with the comic, which is why the updates are so unbearably slow recently.

First off, we closed the sim I was using to create much of the comic’s environments.  This means I have had to use other sims and hope that they don’t change anything between shots.  It also means I can’t put anything down myself, so prop work and poses are limited.  This makes getting the shots just right very difficult.

Secondly, many of the characters in the comic are hosted on someone else’s account.  This means that when I want to do a photo shoot I need to work within the schedules of 1-5 people.  Scheduling a photo shoot has become near impossible.  So I am working on getting the avatars set up on my own personal accounts so I don’t have to wait on other people to take the photos.

These two things are what have been holding me up in the last two months, and I am actively working on fixing the second problem.  The first problem will take a little bit more help from you guys.

I am starting a Patreon page so that I can get help from my readers to rent a sim in Second Life so that I can put down all the props I need to and leave them in place so that I can just take the pictures or put down new prims as I see fit.  This will give me a level of creativity I didn’t have in the past.

Patreon is a simple way for you to contribute to the comic every month and get great rewards in return.

If you would like to see more of this comic, or simply wish to help me out, please feel free to become a patron!  Levels start as low as $1 a month and the rewards are worth it!

My first goal is to get $150 worth of pledges per month so that I can rent a sim.  Without this goal the comics will continue to come, but at a much slower rate.  Let’s make this happen!

Drug Hazed Postings

So it turns out the Kidney infection I had a month ago also produced stones.  So the last few days have been pretty much me, hating on my kidneys and all their stone making abilities.  Plus good drugs.

I can assure you, good drugs means I’m not really very sober.  It’s amazing what’s legal these days.

But riding the Oxy high is boring after day two and I’m already on to better things.

I have been thinking a lot about the comic and the story line, which always leads to the characters themselves and their backstories.  I love backstories, but I tend to put more into the backstory than will ever come out in the comic itself.  So now I am trying to figure out how to incorporate some of that story into something that will actually be seen.

Plus I need to figure out the best way to organize all these ideas and topics.  I’ve got pictures galore of characters that have yet to be introduced into the comic yet, and I really need to get the crew photo up on the webpage somewhere.  I have a feeling it will be on the crew bios page, so folks know who is who.

Right, so I need a crew bios page as well.

Hm.  Time to pull out my handy dandy organizer mind-brain and figure out how to pull this all together into some semblance of coherency.

Maybe I should switch to Tylenol…

Anyway, big things are coming up in the comic, but I would love to hear some feedback on the story so far.  Big plans doesn’t mean it’s actually translating into entertaining stories ~now~.

I’m having fun with it though, so I guess that’s really all that matters.  *laughs*

Okay.  Thanks.  Buh bye.

… is it nap time yet?
