TPW Comic – 60

Now we start to see some of the bigger metaplot that I was really looking forward to expanding into.  I really enjoy the slow expansion of a storyline, from local, to continental, to worldwide and beyond.  I hope it translates.

If you would like to learn more about the Sisterhood of the Red Veil, I will be putting up a background piece for my patrons!  You can check it out over here!

Prophet Update!

If you have been following the comic for a while you know that I started it with the help of several of my friends.  They put together the avatar, we set up photo shoots and I did the rest.

That format works only when everyone’s schedules line up and they so very rarely do.  So for the past year I have been working on getting each of the characters onto an account that I control, so that I can take the photos whenever my weird ass schedule will let me.

Unfortunately, I can’t always copy the original avatar piece for piece.  Sometimes items aren’t for sale anymore, and sometimes I want to upgrade to mesh, which means I may have to do a whole overhaul because mesh clothing and pieces can vary wildly from the original look.

I’ve been lucky so far.

The latest project is a new avatar for the Prophet!2017.11.11_002.png

Here is the base SL Avatar that I started with.  I figured why not have something I could use?  I’m certain at some point I’ll need a zombie.  So let’s go zombie!

This is not, however, anywhere near what I need for our lovely Prophet.

Face first.  I will be using her heavily in the upcoming pages so I wanted to make sure she got a mesh body and face.  I’ll put the style card at the end, but I LOVE the Maitreya mesh body and CATWA has the best mesh heads I’ve found.  The hair and horns, iconic for our mystic, were luckily available.  I had to fudge the jewelry a little bit, hopefully it won’t be super noticeable.

I gave her some new makeup as the skin I wanted to use doesn’t have appliers for Maitreya.  So I went with a beautiful skin by ItGirls and I LOVE it.  The tattoos are from the Tribal Face Tattoos line by *CATY*

The clothing obviously is completely different than the original prophet.  But nobody wears the same clothing day in and day out, so I was less worried about that.  It’s a new chapter!  She has been cast out of the Court, surely that deserves a change of clothing.

That’s what I tell myself anyway.  *laughs*

The original Prophet had a lot of red in her skin, lots of warm tones.  This prophet has more cool tones, so I changed the beads and dream-catcher in her hair to reflect that.

She is so lovely!

Hm.  Seems like the strings of fate are being plucked.  Let’s hope the crew is ready for what’s to come.

TPW Comic – 017

So it turns out running a LARP as a business takes up an amazing amount of time.  I have spent the last few months getting some processes set up so things will run smoothly for the rest of the game’s life.  Now it’s just a matter of testing those processes and getting them tweaked enough to actually keep them useful from month to month.

I was supposed to go to another LARP this weekend, but I’ve decided my mental health was more important.  FREE WEEKEND!!  I’m going to relax and enjoy it as much as I can before the craziness kicks up again.

One of the things I had wanted to catch up on is this comic!  Here is page 17, sorry it took me so long to get it out.  I kinda figured it would be that way once business picked up.  Still, I have lots of ideas for this story and I am determined to get it out there!

That being said.  I’ve closed the sim I used to host this comic’s scenes on, so while I search for another one I am going to have to do some … creative storytelling to make this comic go.

Part of the fun of the creation I suppose!

Better late than never I say!  Here is the next installment of The Prophet’s Web!  A bit more information about these two interesting characters.

TPW Comic – 015

Sorry for disappearing last week.  Things were a lot more hectic than I had anticipated.   No worries though, everything is under control!

Can’t say the same for the Fae King, but I’m sure he’ll get a handle on things eventually.  😉

Getting back on track!

I love the backgrounds in these photos, covering them with speech bubbles was so disappointing!  *laughs*  Though it would be more disappointing not to hear what was going on, so I make do.

The Prophet’s Web 001

And so it begins…

Say hello to the Prophet, our mysterious lady of the hour.  *waves*

Cover Page – Chapter 1

Welcome to The Prophet’s Web!  This is a weekly graphic novel written for the web by Heather S. and put together by a wonderful team of models photographed on Second Life.  Stylesheets for each model can be found here.

I have been writing short stories and novels since I was young.  I love the idea of comics, the unification of word and art to tell a story.  I got into Second Life 9 years ago and fell in love with it’s ability to make pretty much anything a reality.  Working in a role play sim I began dreaming up a comic using Second Life as a graphical interface but have never really had the time or the gumption to see it through.  When I was a child I used to draw comics for stress relief and it was so much fun.  I still have a file folder full of comics that I go through every now and then to make me smile.  Looking back on the joy drawing comics used to give me I figured now would be the best time to make this dream a reality.

I couldn’t do it without my crew, so many thanks to them for putting up with my oddities!

Here we have a nice splash page for the webcomic.  Welcome to The Prophet’s Web.
